School profile
Our new 1,000-student middle school opened fall 2007. The school features a library-media center, cafeteria, 500-seat auditorium, gymnasium, reception area, 25 classrooms, conference rooms, teacher workrooms, and an administration suite housing the nurse's office and treatment room, guidance/counseling offices, and both the principal and assistant principal's offices.

The building is divided into three wings - color-coded red, blue and green. A learning "pod" is situated at the end of each wing. Each pod features: open space for group teaching, pull-out activities, and mobile computer lab lessons; a science demonstration area with 360-degree viewing access; an oversized projection screen; and student lockers.

The school contains 180 desktop computers. Wireless technology will be used to operate an additional 30 mobile computers (over time, this number will grow to 90). In addition, each classroom and all major public spaces are equipped with DVD/VCR televisions and projector screens to enhance learning.

During the 2007-2008 school year, Alfred G. Waters Middle School housed the Ninth Grade Academy program. With the opening of Appoquinimink High in August 2008, Alfred G. Waters School became the third dedicated middle school in the Appoquinimink School District, serving grades 6 through 8.
